Social Behaviour & Suitability
At Blue Mountains Pet Resort, we believe dogs are social animals, and that philosophy is at the heart of everything we do. Our resort is designed around safe, positive social interactions where well-socialised dogs can make friends, enjoy group play, explore our spacious yards, and become part of the BMPR pack. For many dogs, these friendships and shared experiences are what make their holiday so special.
For the safety and wellbeing of all our guests and staff, we are unfortunately unable to accept dogs that display aggression towards people or other dogs.
That said, we understand that many dogs can feel a little anxious, unsure, or overwhelmed when visiting a new environment. A little nervousness or occasional grumpiness is different from true aggression, and we're generally very happy to work with dogs who simply need a little extra time, understanding and support while they settle in.
Throughout the day, dogs spend time in our outdoor play areas where they interact with other dogs. Even dogs in separate yards will still see and hear neighbouring dogs. Because of this, dogs that display strong aggressive behaviours, including intense fence fighting or behaviours that place other dogs or our staff at risk, are unfortunately not suited to our boarding environment.
For dogs that cannot safely be mixed with other dogs, life at the resort can become quite solitary. While we can accommodate a limited number of these dogs, our entire concept is built around social interaction, so we strongly recommend adding activities such as bush walks, enrichment sessions or one-on-one training to give them extra stimulation and individual attention during their stay.
Please note that our capacity to accommodate dogs that cannot safely interact with other dogs is very limited, and availability cannot always be guaranteed.
If you're unsure whether your dog would enjoy staying with us, or if you'd simply like to introduce them to the resort before booking a longer stay, we highly recommend starting with one or two daycare visits. This allows your dog to become familiar with our staff, routine and environment, while also giving us the opportunity to assess how they settle in and interact with the other dogs. It's a great way to help set them up for a successful and enjoyable boarding experience.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We're always happy to have a chat and help you determine whether Blue Mountains Pet Resort is the right fit for your dog.
